1Welcome
Greet the children and prepare them for the lesson.
2Big Idea
With children seated, use a simple dialog with a Little Leaders puppet, if available, to introduce the big idea. Suggested: “Our Bible verse today is, ‘God sees our heart.’ Do you know where your heart is?” Ask the puppet, then the children. Motion to chest. “Put your hand on your chest and feel your heart beating. God made us and He made our hearts,” point to chest, “and our minds,” point to head. “God sees us and He has a wonderful plan for us. Let’s watch how a boy named David loved God and trusted Him even though he was little.”
3Video
Show the “David the Shepherd Boy” video on your available TV or device.
4Video Review / Discussion / Takeaway
Show the coloring page of David and his big brothers. “Can you find David here? David was smaller than his big brothers, but David trusted God. He knew God saw him and watched over him. God helped David be strong to care for his sheep even though he was little. Remember our Bible verse for today: ‘God sees our heart.’” Teach with motions: “God,” point up, “sees,” point to eyes, “our heart,” point to chest. Repeat together.
5Activity
Color the page of David among his big brothers, with sheep and landscape.
6Snack / Play Time
Serve snack, if applicable, then lead in a prayer of thanks. Allow play time as needed.
7Song
Play “The Shepherd’s Song” on your available TV or device.
8Song Takeaway / Discussion
Follow up to build on the video review. Repeat the memory verse together.
9Activity
Stand children side by side and measure them, or trace their hands on one large sheet of paper. Say: “Look how each of us is different, but God sees each of us and has a plan for each of us.”
10Summary Wrap-Up
Review the Bible verse with signs, then close in prayer.
