Lesson Description

LESSON DESCRIPTION

This lesson will teach children to recognize how mommies, daddies, siblings, and grandparents love and care for them. God shows His care through our parents and families. They are safe in God’s care when they obey. Children will notice that David is not afraid because God who made the stars shine from the night sky also watches over him. Although we cannot see God, He cares for us through those who love us --our parents and family. God wants us to love and obey our parents.

1Welcome
Greet the children and prepare them for the lesson.
2Big Idea
With children seated, introduce the big idea, saying: “Our Bible verse today is, “The eyes of God watch over me.”” Then, dialog with a Little Leaders puppet, if available. For example, “Oscar, do you see all our friends here today? And did you see how mommies and daddies bring them and care for them? Children, aren’t we thankful for our mommies and daddies and those who care for us? And, do you know, God cares for all of us?” That is our big idea for today.
3Video
Show the "People Who Care For Us" video on your available TV or device.
4Video Review / Discussion / Takeaway
God cares for us by giving us mommies and daddies, and family who love and care for us. Teach memory verse with motions: “The eyes (point to eyes) of God (point upward) watch (make like holding a binocular) over (arms waved broadly around) me (hands, fingers spread back to chest).” Repeat.
5Activity
Allow playtime with attention to sharing toys, and obedience in gathering up toys. Compliment children who share and help.
6Snack / Play Time
Serve snack, if applicable, then lead in a prayer of thanks. Allow play time as needed.
7Song
Introduce video by way of review: “Do you remember our story of David the shepherd boy and how God’s stars lighted the sky? David knew God cared for him. Do you remember this song?” Then play “The Star Song” on your TV or applicable audio device.
8Song Takeaway / Discussion
Show the lesson's printed download picture. “Can you find David? Where is the sky?" Help children count the stars. "Have you seen the moon and stars in the sky at night? God’s sun lights the day, and His stars light up the night. The eyes of God watch over us. Our mommies and daddies watch over us. Let’s color, okay?"
9Activity
Distribute the coloring page for the children to color.
10Summary Wrap-Up
